ABOUT NATIONAL INSURANCE ACADEMY
National Insurance Academy, Pune (NIA) is a leading institution for learning, education and research in Management, Insurance, Pension, and allied areas. NIA was established in the year 1980 by the Public Sector Insurance Companies namely, Life Insurance Corporation of India, General Insurance Corporation of India, The New India Assurance Co. Ltd., National Insurance Co. Ltd., The Oriental Insurance Co. Ltd., and United India Insurance Co. Ltd. under the aegis of the Ministry of Finance, Government of India. The Academy has been contributing to skilling and / reskilling of insurance professionals through its Management Development Programmes (MDPs), Certificate Courses and Webinars. The PGDM course, which was introduced in 2003 has produced a large number of postgraduates in the field of insurance who have gone onto contributing enormously to the Insurance and Technology industry in India and abroad.
COURSE BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES
Traditionally reinsurance has been seen as a back-office function primarily being handled at Corporate Offices of Insurance Companies. There is also a certain element of mystique associated with Reinsurance. This makes the subject distant and remote for insurance professionals. However, the subject of Reinsurance is extremely important for insurance companies. It plays a major role not only in enhancing insurers’ capacity to write business, but also in stabilizing its bottom line to a considerable extent. A comprehensive understanding of reinsurance will assist insurance personnel to become more effective professionals. NIA is offering a specially designed Diploma Course to help interested persons to develop their knowledge and skills in the area of Reinsurance.

MODE OF DELIVERY AND PLATFORM
Online sessions will be conducted on the above topics. The candidates can use the online platform for learning and to interact with the faculty. It is mandatory for the participants to attend the classes conducted online to complete the course. Microsoft Teams on Laptop/Desktop/iPad /Mobile is preferable mode for online sessions.

PROGRAMME DURATION AND SCHEDULE
The Course will be conducted from 14th June 2025 to 20th September 2025 in online mode on MS Teams Platform. Fourteen (14) Sessions will be of 3 hours duration and will be held every Saturday from 10.00 am to 1.30 pm (with a break of 30 minutes)
PEDAGOGY
Inputs will be delivered in English by industry experts and faculty members of NIA. Depending upon the need, industry experts may use a variety of pedagogical methods that may include lectures, presentations, case study, discussion, assignment and exercises.
EXAMINATION DETAILS
Final Exam for the course will be announced during the programme and would be for a duration of 100 minutes for 100 marks. Candidates need to secure 60% in the Final Exam to be eligible to receive the ‘Diploma in Reinsurance’ from NIA. Candidates who fail to obtain 60% marks may re-appear in the examination on payment of Rs 1500+GST. Accordingly, the dates for the re-exam will be announced later.
HOW TO REGISTER?
Candidates may apply and register for the course at https://www.niapune.org.in/payments The candidate will be directed to the payment page through the payment link. Last date for registration is 09.06.2025
The candidates will be emailed a link each week to participate in the session online once payment confirmation has been received.
PROGRAMME CERTIFICATION
The candidate will receive the "Diploma in Reinsurance" from NIA after successfully completing all the requirements of the Course and passing the Final Examination on securing a minimum of 60%.
